Breast cancer screening

Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women. Regular self-examination can help to detect cancers early. Between the ages of 50 to 75, women in Guernsey are invited to have a mammogram every 2 years.

Cervical cancer is linked to the human papilloma virus. In Guernsey, all women who are between the ages of 25 and 65 and have been sexually active are advised to have a cervical smear.

An increasingly popular form of contraception for women is the use of long acting reversible contraception (LARC).  These fall into three main categories: coils or intrauterine contraceptive (IUC), the contraceptive implant (Nexplanon) and the contraceptive injection (Depoprovera and Sayana Press).  There are two types of coils: the hormonal (Mirena) coil and the non-hormonal (copper) coil.

The below links will help you understand what to expect from these methods of contraception.

Needless to say, all of the doctors listed below will be more than happy to discuss your options with you.
