Physiotherapy is a vital tool in managing injury, illness or disability. By combining movement, exercise, manual therapy, education and advice, it helps people regain and maintain optimal health.
While Guernsey is well-served by a wide range of general musculoskeletal therapists, our clinic specialises in pelvic health and post-natal wellbeing.
Understanding pelvic health
Pelvic health involves addressing dysfunction in the muscles, joints and ligaments of the abdomen, pelvis and hips. It also includes issues such as bladder and bowel problems, caused by pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.
This is a common yet overlooked issue that can affect anyone, men, women, and even children. For instance, 25% of adult women over 20 years old suffer from a pelvic health disorder, this increases to 40% when aged 40-50 and more than 50% of women aged over 60+. While 10% of men are affected by pelvic floor dysfunction.
According to The British Association of Urological Surgeons, 60-80% of patients have never sought medical advice for their condition and 35% view it simply as part of the ageing process. With an ageing population, these issues are expected to rise significantly.
Post-natal screening for new mothers
We now offer specialised post-natal screening assessments to support new mothers. These screenings address post-birth issues ,including pelvic health needs and easing your return to exercise.
If your baby is at least three months old, book a screening appointment.

Our service is led by Sophie Tyrrell, a highly qualified physiotherapist with a postgraduate certificate in continence physiotherapy from the University of Bradford. Sophie is one of a small number of physiotherapists qualified to treat pelvic health issues in Guernsey.
