Children’s Health
From your baby’s first day we are here to look after their health and well being.
After birth we will visit you and your baby in hospital and undertake a thorough, newborn baby check – this is a service we provide completely free of charge.
At eight weeks we undertake the first developmental check and first immunisation then arrange for the subsequent immunisations at 12, 16 and 52 weeks. We advise all parents to have their children immunised in accordance with the UK Immunisation schedule to help avoid potentially serious infectious diseases.
The health visitors are involved in promoting health and offering support to parents of babies and children under five and can be contacted at Lukis House (tel. 01481 725241). Health visitors also perform routine developmental checks throughout early childhood. Please note that the initial immunisations are carried out by the nurses at the surgeries, but the pre-school booster and school leaving immunisations are undertaken by the school nurses.
Throughout childhood and adolescence we are here to help you with any concerns you may have. All of our doctors are experienced in the management of child and adolescent healthcare, and you should never feel embarrassed about bringing your child to see us no matter how trivial you might think it is.
